Data-quality monitoring

Data-quality and access monitoring for PowerSchool SIS.

Data-quality monitoring watches for incomplete, conflicting, or risky SIS data and prepares exceptions for people who can fix them. It includes contact cleanup reviews, duplicate-student checks, access reviews, and scheduled quality jobs where those workflows are enabled. Agents surface issues; they do not silently rewrite student records.

Problems this service addresses

Errors hide until a report or state file fails
Missing contacts, bad exit codes, and stale enrollments stay invisible between collections.
Access reviews are annual, if they happen
Staff who changed roles can retain SIS pages they no longer need.
Cleanup work has no owner
Everyone agrees the data is messy; no ticket assigns the next review.

Concrete deliverables

  • Scheduled data-quality checks where workflows are enabled
  • Exception summaries for authorized reviewers
  • Access-review support as a configured service, not a silent permission change
  • Tickets that turn exceptions into assigned work
  • Optional Advanced Monitoring for more frequent checks and alert paths
District authorization
Read access for monitoring is granted by the district. Corrections to student or staff records require an authorized person. Public Ask questions still follow the zero-PII rule.
Role of agents
The Data Quality Agent, when enabled, prepares reviews and marks items that need human approval. It monitors and alerts; it does not apply sensitive SIS changes on its own.
Role of authorized humans
District SIS staff, an Advisor, or a regional partner decide which exceptions are real, which are false positives, and what to change in PowerSchool.

Direct and regional-partner delivery

Monitoring can run for districts on direct PSUG.pro plans. Regional partners can attach their own validation rules and state practices. Server-health monitoring is included only where hosting or that monitoring module is enabled—not implied for every district.

Turn data exceptions into reviewable work

Monitor what the district authorizes. Keep corrections in human hands.
